The verdict is out.
The trends to look out for in spring summer 2012, the colors to be seen in, the styling, the cuts, it's all out!!
First most loved and extremely wearable trend is going to be athletic chic, with almost every designer adapting it in his/her own concept, this is one trend that is here to stay for summer. Sportswear and menswear inspired pieces in solids, prints and even lace are looking promisingly good for coming year.
The other big thing for SS2012 is inspiration africa! from leopard prints, to zebra stripes and earthy tones, this was seen in major runways like Michael Kors and Proenza.
Also to look out for are FLORALS. yes they are getting bigger and bolder in the coming summer and the fruit cocktail is sure to turn heads in the streets, from DVF to Prabal Gurung, to many other designers doing variations with florals, this is a big trend to catch.
Not to forget now are the bollywood and asian inspired themes with bright blues and reds for color, paisley prints and lots of gold. Watch out for Thakoon inspired pieces filtering into your wardrobe in spring summer.
Another trend to go big and actually get carried forward from this year into SS2012 is that of color blocking. From Tommy Hilfiger to Mark Jacobs, even Victoria Beckham showing off some fabulous outfits with this trend, its going to rock out SS2012 completely.
In terms of colors, other than the beautiful and some unusual but ever so pretty brights and earthy tones ruling the runways, a major key player for SS2012 is going to be the pastel and milky tones of pinks, greens and blues. A very classy and clean cut 20's inspired theme ran almost all through this concept, regardless of the designer adoring it. But a lot of twists, like beautiful lace jumpsuits and menswear inspired jackets make this pastel palatte seem fresh and perfect for spring.
Also keep in mind a lot of retro feel is coming back into silhouettes with designers like DVF and Oscar de la Renta doing some beautiful mix n match of old with new.
Look out for aqua shades, purples, a lot of leather accessories, bold braided belts, utility belts and similarly inspired accessories. Also pumps and platforms in bold, BOLD colors go big and bigger comin winter! Think L.A.M.B. and if looking for sparkle, I'ld say look no further than the beautiful Mark Jacobs sequin pumps.
